The Senator Jim Tysinger Breakfast Forum meets each Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Panera Bread in Briarcliff Village, 2100 Henderson Mill Rd at LaVista Rd for legislative and governmental reports by candidates, public officials, and discussion of current events.
About Jim Tysinger: When Jim Tysinger was first elected to the Georgia Senate in 1968, he had a half-dozen Republican colleagues. When he retired in 1998, a Republican majority was within reach.
“Jim was a trailblazer for Republicans in Georgia, and he garnered significant respect and influence under the Gold Dome, even as a member of the minority party,” Gov. Nathan Deal said in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “He was a great Georgian, a public servant, but most important, he was just a really nice guy.”
Former Gov. Zell Miller said Tysinger didn’t mind working with Democrats to get the job done.
The Breakfast Forum, which has been in existence for over 50 years, also hosts the Annual Lincoln Day Dinner. This dinner is attended by more than 200 people each year and is a tradition for the folks in DeKalb County.
The forum is nonpartisan, open to the public and free of charge. No reservations are required. Coffee, breakfast fare available for purchase.
